Semester
I felt like a learned a lot about constructing a good essay over th4e semester. I also learned many important things about history but the biggest thing I learned was how to put together a good essay.
Leonardo Da Vinci
Leonardo Da Vinci is the best example of a Renaissance Man. He was not only an extraordinary artist, but he was an inventor. He even invented what is today the modern day airplane. His sketch book was filled with thousands of inventions and pieces of art. He has greatly influenced society today.
Gothic and Romanesque
Romanesque Cathedrals:
Gothic Cathedrals:
Romanesque and Gothic Cathedrals greatly influenced and influenced by the world. They were built and structured based on politics, religion, and enemies. During the centuries they were built there were world events happening that took a great influence in the structure. The religion was a great influence in the design and showed an insight in the faith. Romanesque and Gothic Cathedrals were influenced by politics, enemies, but theological virtues were also a big influence on these structures.
Romanesque cathedrals are huge. They have this big structure because they used to act as fortresses for the town. When people would attack the community everyone had a place to flee to for safety. Many facades are evidence of this fortitude the cathedral provided (Figure 4 and 5). In Figure 6 you can see a good image of the high windows and interior of these cathedrals. Romanesque cathedrals followed this style to maintain fortitude and a safe haven for the town. The walls were incredibly thick and high. A lot of these cathedrals had towers at the very top so people were able to lookout and see the enemies. During this time people were worried about Judgment day, another reason for these fortresses. As you can see theological virtues are represented in these cathedrals.
Major differences between these two types of cathedrals are their windows. Figure 7 is a Gothic Window and Figure 6 is a Romanesque. The Romanesque windows are high with thick glass to help enemies from getting in. The theology presented in this is the factor of judgment day. The Gothic Cathedral’s windows are very beautiful and elaborate. A lot of light showed through them almost as a way to feel the light of God. Some of the windows were even made out of stained glass with religious art.
Later during the Romanesque period when Gothic cathedrals were made people weren’t as worried about enemies and judgment days. These Cathedrals were incredibly elaborate and breathtaking. Figure 1 is a great example of its beauty. The Gothic Cathedrals were much more elaborate than Romanesque cathedrals. They were heavily decorated and had many religious aspects in art. They had beautiful stained glass windows and religious art. These stain glass windows and other large windows were made to, “let God shine his light.” As you can see theology is greatly present in these cathedrals.
As you can see Romanesque and Gothic cathedrals have theology represented in them. They also were affected by politics and events taking place. Perhaps there most distinct feature was the windows. There windows were beautiful and had a story behind them. It is in these windows that we find the theology. As you can see, theology greatly influenced the cathedrals.
The Black Death
1. The Black Death originated in Europe because of unclean rodents. Flees would bite these rodents and carry there diseased blood. When they would feed on humans they would give them the blood of the diseased rodent. The Black Death claimed millions of lives and terrified the people in Europe.
2. There are several different cases of the Black Death a victim could have: bubonic, pneumonic, and septicemia. In order to identify the bubonic plague I look for symptoms such as: enlarged and inflamed lymph nodes around arm pits, neck and groin. My patient might also suffer from headaches, nausea, fevers, and vomiting. To identify the pneumonic plague you check to see if the victims saliva contains blood. After all it's an infection in the lungs. Most people die if they have this case before they get a chance to see a doctor. The septicemia plague's symptoms are incredibly high fevers and the skin turning a shade of purple. It's incredibly rare and no one survives from it. I encourage my patients who have this disease to sit by the fire and eat many fruits and vegetables. They should also sleep on their side. I will use leaches to suck out the infected blood and I can pop the infected blotches of pus; however, no one really survives, but at least we can try.
3. Nowadays it would be easier to treat the Black Death. Although many people would still be at risk of dying, especially those with the septicemia plague, there would be many more people that would survive. Our doctors today are well equipped with new technology that would help to fight of the disease. I don't think everyone would be too terrified, but it would not be good.

The Third Crusade

The control of Jerusalem belongs to me. We need to keep this city holy and peaceful. It's not right to bring war and madness into the city where Jesus once walked. We need to stop these crusaders from taking our beloved city away from us.
Jerusalem needs to stay safe and protected under my hand. We cannot let it fall into the hands of Richard. Many brave hearts have died for this holy place and now that it is in good hands we cannot let go of it. I'm prepared to do whatever I must to defend this city and I hope you all agree with me.

Roman Empire/United States
The Roman Empire was in existence thousands of years ago, but this does not mean evidence of it isn’t in existence today. Some would even argue to say that the Roman Empire is very much evident in today’s legal system. The United States is a modern day Roman Empire; because of, the legal system, the economy, and the military.
A very obvious similarity between the Roman Empire and the 21st century of the United States is the military, “Rome was the Superpower of its time, and the United States is the Superpower now.” (Roman Empire vs. United States Similarities) The Roman military was incredibly strong and the best military of it is time. Some would argue to say that the United States has one of the best militaries too. The Romans were the richest country, giving them the biggest military budget, and had the best military equipment known to man at the time. The United States is one of the richest countries and has some of the most advanced technology in the world. In on recent instance the Federal Government was able to freely give 1.5 million dollars to fix a bridge. Although they are in debt, they are still able to use large amounts of money.
In the Roman times there were problems with their economy at points. Despite being one of the wealthiest countries, they had their problems. A big example of this problem was the fall of the Roman Empire, “For those looking for a single cause, the best single explanation would be poor leadership rather than military failure.” (Fall of Rome - Reasons for the Fall of Rome Include the Economy and Hoarding) In the 21st century a major problem is our economy. Because of poor leadership over the last years the United States has fallen into debt and there are many problems with jobs. Obama, the president of the United States, is even concerned with the rate of job growth.
